what I have done today 14/12/12

Today I changed a few of the shots around as when I rewatched the edit I felt that did not look right I also started looking at overlays as well. I started to look into how this would look as if it was the final product.

what I did on Thursday 15th December

This is what I completed on thursday 15th december. I took some of the clips from the multi clips we built and started to build a final project. I managed to get most of the main structure down and in sync with the music.

what I did on Wednesday 12th December

As I waited for some work to render on final cut pro I decided to have a look at carrying the effect I used previously over different photos to see how it would look. The effect came out best over the bottom photo when their is a darker, blacker background. This caused the colours to show up more. I like the effect over the darker image as I felt that it made the image stand out more and become more eye catching.

End Of module 2

I contributed to this day an actor to stand in for us when the artist became unavailable
to us. I went and brought the lights for us to use and helped contribute
to the some of the shots that were taken on the night.

I contributed to this the day that we were planning to shoot on.

I contributed to this shoot by controlling the lights and having an input into the
positions of the artist and made an opinion on if I thought the framing of the shot was
good or bad.

I contributed to this some of the effects that we could use and contributed a number of the pictures
used in the mood board itself.

I contributed to this some of the props I felt that we would need to use on
shoot day and what I could bring with me to have on shoot day.

I contributed to this some of the shot type and angles that we were using and the B roll shots
I also helped build the animatic and stood in for some of the shots we needed when
 actors were unavailable.

I have contributed 50% to all the research and planning tasks that have been completed throughout the project.
I contributed 50% towards the matter in whether the artist should be our actor or not.
I contributed 50% towards the location by assessing the location.
I contributed 50% to the costume.
I contributed 50% to the props.
I contributed 60% of the lighting on each shoot.
i contributed 40% of the shooting on each shoot.
I contributed 50% of the directing.

multi clip performance bed and photoshop 5.12.12

Today I had a go at creating my own performance bed using the multi clip editing technique. This was a new technique that I had never used before and so took a while to get the hang of. Once I figured out how multi clipping worked and a few practice goes using it I found the technique quite easy and a lot of fun. It was amazing how you could edit live and see your work coming together right in front of you.
Beneath this here is a digipak design that I thought of and created by playing around with the paint tools, different colours and then using the motion blur to create this effect over the image. As the picture was already visually interesting and was amazing without needing to be edited I wanted to avoid putting too much effect over the top ad I didnt want to ruin the photo. I think that the picture on the right which only contain white paint blurred over the top looks visually interesting and more artistic and  more harsh to look at than the one on the right. The picture on the right has white and beige colours blurred over the top and I feel this has created a more softer effect over the picture compared to the version on the right hand side. I think that both pictures look visually appealing and fit the image we are creating around our artist and to help decide which one will be used a final project to gain feedback from others.

examples of digipak designs

This my attempt at producing digipak covers from our photoshoot photos. I used motion blurs and the paint too to create the top design and used two different pictures and cropped them to make the second design.

first draft digipak and website design ideas

This is 1 of my first ideas for a digipak and website design. The top picture is a website. I decided to keep the font simple looking and then have a more artistic picture of having the same picture shot from 3 angles so the middle picture would be a full shot the picture to the left a side profile and then a closeup of her face to fill the banner. This would have an empathise on her makeup and her style. The first digipak front cover I thought of using the theme of the forests and hanging old lanterns and photos of the artist from the tree and then on the back having a picture of the tree with the artist next to the tree keeping the forest theme.

website mood board

This a mood board of how we hope to make the website look once completed. As you can see we have carried through the theme of the old hollywood glamour with her exaggerated eye and lip makeup. Here we can see that there is a large focus on more close up shots of the artists face and the makeup detail. There is a mix up with a few mid shots and full body shots to help keep the pictures look appealing and to show the whole artists style. We can see there are feminine types of clothing still. The greenery and nature we still be a theme for the background and lights in the trees will give an innocent theme. There is the same look, image and background theme carried through from the digipak ideas.

digipak mood board

This is a mood board of ideas and themes to use for our artists digipak cover. Here we can see a range of shots from close ups and full body shots. They all have a similar pose style of being feminine and sexualy confident without being provocative at the same time. There is a nature outdoors theme being shown with greens and sunflares and we well as some artificial lighting. There is a theme of soft femininity in the style of clothing. We want to give the artist a strong exaggerated make up and hair style, an old hollywood glamour look. We will give her outlined eyes and red lipstick so all the attention will be drawn towards her face. We want her to see him hyper real with with real life appeal and look to her too as so the audience will feel as if they can be just like her. We also are thinking of using a range of overlays to help make the digipak have a visual appeal

lyrics analysis

We took the idea of a relationship coming to an end and a new relationship starting from the opening lyric of "come around have a beer all is good when you are near" and also the repetitive chorus line of "dreaming of the gone and been". We felt that a bittersweet  lost love conflicting with a new love felt the best fit to the lyrics and the mood of the tone being set. We planned to shoot the whole video but after making our animatic decided that we actually like the visual style of photographs for the narrative suited the mood to the song quite nicely and helped keep the old relationship and the new relationship visual style different to stop confusion. We also felt that the lyric "I keep dreaming of the gone and been" sounds dreamy so decided to make this her 'place' inside her head where she escapes to with her thoughts and feeling conflicting together but at the same time she is safe there and nothing can hurt her.
